Cookies and Local Storage

Most websites open with a cookie banner. Ours does not, because there is nothing to consent to. This page explains exactly what our website and app store on your device.
Our website sets no cookies
www.merobites.com does not set any cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for preferences.
We also do not use:
- Google Analytics or any other analytics or visitor-tracking service
- Advertising or remarketing pixels, including Facebook, Google Ads, or similar
- Session-recording or heatmap tools
- Social media tracking widgets
- Third-party fonts or scripts loaded from other companies' servers
Our fonts, styles, images and scripts are served from our own domain. Loading a page on our website does not tell any other company that you visited us.
The one thing we do store on the website
On the subscription page (/subscribe) only, after you sign in, we keep your sign-in token in your browser's session storage.
- Why: so you are not asked to sign in again as you move between choosing a plan and paying.
- How long: until you close the browser tab. Session storage is cleared automatically.
- Where it goes: nowhere. It stays in your browser and is sent only to our own servers to prove you are signed in.
This is strictly necessary for the page to work. There is no version of "signing in" that does not involve remembering that you signed in.
What our mobile app stores on your device
The app is not a website and does not use cookies, but it does store data on your device:
- Your sign-in session, so you stay logged in between uses.
- A local copy of operating data — for restaurant staff, this includes menus, tables and pending orders so the app keeps working during an internet outage. It syncs and clears as part of normal operation, and is removed when you log out or remove the account from the device.
- Your app preferences, such as notification and printing settings.
- A push-notification token from Firebase Cloud Messaging, so we can send order and waitlist alerts.
- Crash diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics when the app crashes, so we can fix it.
Firebase is a Google service. Details of what it receives are in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Session storage: clear it by closing the tab, or through your browser's site-data settings. Doing so signs you out of the subscription page.
- Push notifications: turn off non-essential notifications in your device or app settings. Notifications tied to an order in progress may continue while that order is active.
- Local app data: removed when you log out or remove the account from the device, or by uninstalling the app.
- Browser controls: you may block storage entirely in your browser settings. The marketing pages will work normally; the subscription page will not be able to keep you signed in.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any third-party technology that tracks you, we will update this page and, where the law requires consent, ask for it before switching it on.
